Visit to the Ramirez Shop
So here’s my little semi-guided tour of the Ramirez workshop in Madrid. This is where all of the high-end Ramirez guitars are made and repaired. It’s not attached to the store downtown – it’s a few metro stops away from there. You’ll have to forgive my shaky hand-held camera work.
Here’s guitarist Alfredo Cáceres playing a beautiful Minera on an equally beautiful 1964 Arcangel Fernandez. I’m a huge fan of Alfredo’s playing and the guitar is gorgeous. The bit at the end with the glasses was unrehearsed, but timed perfectly!
Guitarist Sean Samimi came in to the shop, and I thought he sounded fantastic on this historic 1928 Hauser.
Guitarist Ivan Alejandro Maceda stopped by the shop and played ‘La Catedral’ on a few guitars, so I did a little edit to compare the guitars he was playing – in this case a Daryl Perry Maple and Spruce, and two Contreras ‘Double Tops,’ one cedar and one spruce.
I could listen to David pretty much all day every day. And his son Israel is almost as good as he is already. Here’s more of him playing the guitar he eventually bought at the new Felipe Conde shop in Madrid
