JenKim_Una-Limosna_01

Here’s Jennifer Kim playing Agustin Barrios’ Una Limosna Por El Amor De Dios on a great 2005 Edmund Blochinger cedar-top. Jennifer has just finished high school and as I publish this she’s off to the Peabody Institute to study with Manuel Barrueco. Jennifer spent the last eight years studying with our friend Jack Sanders, who has obviously done an incredible job helping Jen get to where she is today. We wish Jennifer the best at Peabody and look forward to hearing what she does over the next few years.

I think it’s important to recognize this young woman’s talent without overstating the men who are her teachers/mentors. This is common when girls and women achieve great things…men are given too much credit for their part in the success. Without her commitment to endless hours of practice or her musical passion, this amazing talent would not be there. That aside, thank you for highlighting a female guitarist. It’s important for women and girls to see other women and girls and their accomplishments so that we may strive to be more than housewives and mothers. Thank you.

I would like for Jennifer to describe her practice routine (duration, exercises for technique, amount of time rehearsing pieces, and any other useful exercise for those of us who love this insltrument). Much appreciated and thanks.

Jennifer Kim is already “there.” She shows the mark of a true artist in continuing to study to perfect her craft even further. I cannot overstress my admiration for this gifted and exceptionally talented young woman.

Very few people in the world can do what you did in this video Jennifer. Bravo, best of luck at Peabody and I’ll look forward to seeing you on the concert stage very soon!

    So beautful!!!
Truly sounds like a single line instrument in the top voice.

And wonderful phrasing in the lower voice….

Love when they post your videos. You’re an awesome guitarist.

For Heaven’s sake, and hers, I hope Jennifer has a full scholarship to Peabody. She certainly ought to. Her finger agility amazes me. Technically, she is well advanced beyond her age.
