Seasons Greetings!
This is a question that often gets asked in magazine interviews. It seems as though guitarists rarely choose a typical performace hall (maybe for size reasons.) For instance, I was reading where David Tanenbaum answered this question with the Rundetaarn in Copenhagen. I think it fun to learn of these places.
My own answer is typical in that it is a local church with a wonderful design by Bernard Maybeck. There is a main hall which is beautiful but acoustics are not so good:

The smaller wing is ideal!

So what is your favorite venue for performing/viewing a guitar event? Maybe it is a local cafe or maybe it is Wigmore Hall??

right now it's this
old farm house and barn that has
been converted into a restaurant.
the dining room with those huge wooden beam
ceilings and the stone wall directly across
from where i play sound great!!
man that church looks like the ceiling
could detach itself and walk away

I knew you would pick up on that! Yes, Bream as an internatational cover model at 13.
That converted farmhouse sounds cool. The church thing can get a little hamstrung and staid, so hopefully we will find more places.
After posted I remembered that there is this guitarist who must have the greatest gig in the world. He plays at the Banff Fairmont, they even pipe his music into the halls. I remember thinking, how hard would it be to kidnap this guy, dump his body in the woods, then show up and say "I hear you need a new guitarist?"

Hey, long time no posts...
Funny Condeclaro, I have to jump in on that one! I used to live in Lake Louise about ten years ago, this is not too far from Banff. That guitarist in Banff was my teacher then, is name is John Goulart (www.johngoulart.com/). Excellent guitarist by the way!
Cheers
Does "my spare bedroom" count? It's so relaxing there, so stress-free, so devoid of audience (save for my dog, who's learned to tolerate the many mistakes).
Condeclaro, you should post here if you have plans to play around the East Bay anywhere. Being Oaklandish, I'd come see you. (And my alter ego criminal defense lawyer thinks you might want to hold onto my business card in the event you proceed with your plans to kidnap Canadian guitarists . . . .)
ok............this may seem like a joke.........but i mean it !!
there's no place i can find better!

Well I am somehow embarrassed to admit it but my absolute favorite spot will always be the reverb-rich, gently echoing, generously amplifying… powder room!

when i was at the university, my buddy lived in/on the
"ground floor" of the dorm. only five rooms, 10 people.
they had a huge bathroom for the floor. we used to jam
in there, occupied or not!!! great sound. also the heating vent
ended/began(?) in there. the whole damn dorm, 10 floors or so
were treated to exquisite blues jams at all hours(whenever
nature called them). the best recording
had a "flush" that couldn't have been any better placed had
it been on purpose. properly named 'bathroom blues'. the vent also evacuated smoke like nobody's
"business"8) forgot all about that place till now.
i wonder if they ever put a plaque in there recognizing
the great music created and tolerance we showed to any visitor
who HAD to sit down and was forced to listen.
i mentioned the excellent "smoke" exhaust vent right??!!

Well that bring back memories. Rented a room out on Enfield Road if memory serves in Austin that had a bathroom that was all tile but the ceiling .I used to practice sitting on the john as my crap gitar needed a lot of help in the resonance department. It sounded dynomite in there.

Favorite = Front Porch in VA.
Super cool = Small bar with blues band (got some girlfriends)
Bad = Played bass on dinner ship (lost a girlfriend -- it was her gig)
Best = home office (hung wood panels) and it sounds amazing.
Faya,
my idea is subset of the planet earth thing.
