I suggest GSI carry Pyramid's "Super Classic" line, including the sterling silver basses and carbon trebles. These currently cannot be ordered from US dealers.
Best,
Brice.

Where are they made? Can you give us any further info? What do you like about them?

Hi Tim,
Pyramid is a German (former Austrian) company, actually quite large and established. Their flatwound strings have become very popular with jazz players in this country and are available from specialty shops, but no one is importing the nylon sets that I can find.
I have recently ordered sets of the 'Super Classic' plain nylons from SAITENKATALOG.DE, after hearing that Frank Bungarten favors them (thanks, Thraex;)). The trebles have a VERY consistent color and great stability of sound. Basses are warm and bright, both.
I have not tried the "sterling silver" or carbon sets yet, and ordering from Germany, with euro exchange, nonrefundable VAT, and shipping it is a little prohibitive.
Please mention them to one of your German luthier friends and see what their impressions are. I would be interested to know, if the intonation is as consistent as pro-arte then they would be a great option for us.

I was about to post my "final" verdict on strings today!!!
Pyramid are great, now I am convinced, they used to make my custom made strings, but never liked the carbons and the basses were too short lived, but then I realized that those strings they were sending me, were originally designed for their ancient musical instruments.
Then on suggestion by Frank Bungarten, I gave a try to their normal sets of Super classics....they were the best basses I have had, then the sterlings were even a notch or two better!!
The carbons from the classical guitar sets I have yet to because their gauge is too thin for my special instrument's needs, but I tried them on Frank's guitar on thursday, and they are at least as good as Savarez's but he says they are better in intonation, I tend to believe him ;)
My other recommendation is the "mysterion" set by Dr.Junger which is also a german company, which might be part of the Pyramid, although they have never confirmed this when I asked.
Those are blue basses, made out of tungsten, I think, they lasted for about 3 months on my guitars, they are thinner with a very good, dark sound.
They are too expensive for most guitarists tastes, I think (around EUR 40 just the 3 basses) but they last 6 times longer than normal strings, so at the end they are worth it!
I just wished that Pyramid would have "bass sets" instead of forcing me to buy whole sets, because I throw the trebles.
No brand is as consistent as D'Addarios, in my experience, but they are the dullest strings in the history of human kind , if the Pyramids or some models of Hannabach would have that level of consistency in their quality controls, then those would be the best strings, IMO.

Great info Thraex, I think you must be correct about there being a connection between Pyramid and Dr. Junger, from respective websites:
http://www.pyramid-saiten.de/
http://www.dr-junger-saiten.de/
Contact info from websites list "Pyramid/Junger GmbH" With email pyramid@junger.de for pyramid and karl@junger.de for Dr. Junger strings.
I realize there are a number of factors when choosing what to carry, so I'm not holding my breath, but thanks GSI team for at least offering a place for our suggestions be heard! Maybe these premium German strings will fit with your business mission.:)
