Hi, my name is Alan. I've been playing classical for about two years, but I have been playing guitar overall for 10 years. I also play bass and the Appalachian dulcimer, and I like to work on banjo. I plan on learning piano, bassoon, and possibly cello. I have been in some metal bands in the past and decided to take classical lessons to tame my hands but I then realized that classical was more my style, so I pretty much dropped metal completely. I am currently part of a jazz duo with my buddy who plays mandolin. I'm not really too good at classical yet and I am trying to perfect sight reading, but I hope to some day be able to do performances for dances and classical musical gatherings. If anyone knows how to find classical guitar performances by city then please let me know!

Nice to meet you Alan.I am pleased you have seen the light and taken up the Classical Guitar as well.I can promise you if you stick to your guns and be patient a whole world of understanding music will just open up ,spesially Bach
and all the other great composers which I am sure you have encountered in the time that you have being doing the CG.All those lovely guitar harmonies
which you can apply to your Bass and other instruments you tackle.I dont know wether you have got to Villa-Lobos yet but I think his 12 Etudes are great for Jazz a spesially Etudes 2 and 3 if you are into the Joe Pass or Barney Kessel for jamming on stacked chords as well as broken chordsthing that's just the tip of the Ice Berg there are of course many others.I cant see why you cant apply a lot of what you learn on CG to heavy metal,eg Prelude 4 Villa -Lobos with a bit of imagination could be a great 4 or 5 piece set-upJohn Mclaughlin Mavishna Orchestra type thing.Dont worry thats just me going of in all the exitment.

hello,

My name is Tony and I'm like you I love guitar. I've been thinking seriously about learning to play guitar, I already play hammond organ and piano and keyboards, but there has always been something about guitar that seemed unique and in a class by itself.

I love to hear people like BB King, and Chuck Berry, and others play. I grew up around this type of Music all my life and I even watched the guitars being made in Memphis at Gibson. My dad played guitar for alot of quartet groups in Chicago in the late 50's 60's and 70's as a matter of fact I believe that his Fender electric lead guitar is still in his closet at my mom's house, that thing has to be over 50 years old.

I have a question, since I already play organ and I'm already musically inclined, would this make it easier for me to learn guitar?

Please somebody answer that question.

And if you're looking for nice vintage guitars take a look at that site I mentioned above, maybe you can recomend for me.

My name is Tony...

I was looking for a guitar once and I came across some very nice vintage guitars at...

And if you're looking for nice vintage guitars take a look at that site I mentioned above...
Tony? As in Anthony Miller, the owner of the site you linked?

I see Mr. Miller also sells movie props, and google says someone with the exact same nick as you, memaestro, recently joined the forums at moviepropcollectors(dot)com. What a coincidence!

Pardon my skepticism, but I've been around forums long enough to be suspicious when someone's first post is to tell the world about some great site they "found." It's called "discovering yourself."

Of course, I could be wrong and hope that's the case and that you'll stick around and become part of the community here. :p

Or perhaps the admin here will see your post as a thinly-veiled attempt at advertising and remove the link so you don't get the benefit of a backlink from google.
