Hey, Dave, what's the chance of GSI carrying the Yamaha guitalele? (Or perhaps there are some other makers of these thingees?)
The guitalele is basically a 6-string tenor uke based on guitar tuning, but higher.
From what I've read, they have no US distribution. I'm really curious about this little junior cousin to CG. Think it might be a good addition to your offerings. :)

JV, that was cool! :)
Yeah, those little things sound pretty neat on the CG repertoire.

Hey Sandra,
Not sure, I'll have to look into it. Do you think there's sufficient demand for something like this?
Thanks,
Dave

Yeap. I have built two in the last six months to people with arthritis problemas or some sort of limitation. They sound cool, and some pieces are just fun to play.

Dave, people have mentioned them as inexpensive, lightweight travel guitars or just something to knock about with. I think they might be a hit on your ebay store. I couldn't find any listed on ebay at all. As I mentioned, I don't believe they have a US distributor, so this might be a nice niche item for you.
BTW, maybe I'm blind, but I couldn't find a link to the ebay store on the main GSI page.
Pepe, what are the specs on scale length and neck width? Wondering how it compares to the Cordoba "La Playa Traveler" GSI is stocking, which is 590/46.
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you sell the guitaleles you built for? Other than the fact that they use less wood than a full-sized guitar, I imagine they're still a lot of work to build.
I've seen professional tenor ukes in the $5K+ range.
This guy bought the Yamaha from a Canadian store a couple years ago for C$99.

They also might make a good starter guitar for smaller kids whose parents aren't ready to invest a lot to begin with.

Very interesting. I'll look into this, Sandra.

(PS - the only eBay link at the moment in on the Specials page. Good idea to put it somewhere on the homepage too.)

My son is learning on a Guitalele, which I bought in Singapore and brought over when we relocated.
It's a fun little axe!
