Up to this point I have been concentrating on 3 genres: Flamenco, Classical and Brazilian. Each genre requires very different techniques. As I have progressed in Flamenco I have found it increasingly difficult during my practice sessions to go from one genre to another and achieve the desired results. For instance after I play Flamenco for about an hour or so I find I cannot switch over to Classical with good results. I find that my Rasqueo hand takes awhile to (for lack of a better term) quiet down to the repose required for Classical or Brazilian. I have found that I can transition from Classical to Brazilian to Classical quite readily but Flamenco (forget it).
I have found I can start with Classical and then take a break (say 20-30 minutes) and then begin Flamenco practice but my original idea of easily moving through pieces that cross different genres is very difficult if not counter productive.
Insight would be appreciated?
Since I do love Flamenco so much I am moving toward keeping that as my primary focus and play some Classical and Brazilian as a mental break from time to time so I don't fatique. But more and more I am finding Flamenco is something one must "immerse" themselves in if one is to achieve any hope of mastery.
For that matter "immersion" probably applies to most pursuits.
