Here's Richard playing La Chunga, his guitar he built just for himself.

This to me, is the best flamenco i've ever heard or played in my life!!!(period).
And i've played a ton.........:)

Recorded strait through a Sony handy-cam.......at about 10ft away with no fancy mics or editing. RAW!! Recorded Aug. 29th 2009 at our annual little classical/flamenco get together at Federico's house.

Hope you enjoy the video.

When you say ‘‘this is how Flamenco should sound like’’ do you mean the guitar or the piece? ‘Cause in my opinion that is the typical too-sharp sound that I hate the most about flamenco guitars you know. But of course that’s just my (prestigious :p) opinion ;-)

he probably has new strings on it. and it probably still needs time to open up.

For me, that is the essence of the traditional flamenco guitar sound. I enjoyed Richard's playing. Thanks for that.;-)

It has that wonderful sound of the 1936 Ramon Montoya recordings, although I believe he mentions that the piece he is playing was a composition of Nino Ricardo, that other incomparable player. I believe they both played guitars of Santos Hernandez. I wouln't be surprised if Richard used that design as his model.

Excellent playing and great sounding guitar. The Rasqueado work is so crisp and clear.

Lets see if i can answer these in a "numerical" fashion.....

1) Yes, i mean the guitar......but the tune is cool too.

2) Don't know how old the strings are.....but the guitar is about 7yrs old.

3) It's a Spruce top and Cypress B/S. Pepe is a heck of a guy. We messed around on a bunch of old historical flamencos at Richard's shop a few years back. A night i won't soon forget.

4) i will tell him next time to give you free strings from now on Conde...:p

5) You know me all to well Nick.........i likes dem RAW!

6) @ nickc, if i remember right, he told me it was just a basic Torres style bracing. Yes, very old school sounding. i miss those days.:(

7) ssante, glad you enjoyed it. it sounds even better in person.:)

Thanks everyone for taking time to listen.

What a wonderful way to spend an evening. I envy that with much respect!! Many times when musicians get together their is just so much EGO/BS/Competition/Posturing that it seems impossible to just have a fun loving great time enjoying each others company and artistic expression regardless of ones level. Cudos to you all.

Thanks so very much for kind words. I am excited to hear your compositions as well.

BTW: the project "Inner Beauty" is 100% midi guitar. I used a cheap Steinberger with GK2a pickup and Axon interface.

I am very excited to check out your Ambient/Chill-out this evening after I return from work.

Cudos to you all. :cool:It reminds me of Rowdy, Dennis and myself, minus a healthy portion of friendly ball-busting and some profuse flirting with a waitress at the local restaurant afterwards. :)
