I am looking for a natural sounding acoustic guitar amp to use with my electric classical guitar for gigs where I have to be louder. I have heard of some classical guitarists using trace elliot amps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'M using an Ultrasound Amp, and it is very natural sounding. Much cheaper then Trace Elliot also.

I heard a lot about the Carvin acoustic amp. Worth checking out.

I tried a Carvin and thought it was a little noisy. I use a PA system but try out a couple of Keyboard amps-they are usually voiced for a wide frequency range. I think the way you mic or pick-up your instrument probably has more effect on the sound than anything else anyway. (I own two Trace acoustic amps and I think they are very good sounding.)

David Tanenbaum has but together the World Classical Guitar Ensemble and uses AER Amps from Germany. He now endorses these amps and totally swears by them.

I know they have these amps at Westwood Music here in Los Angeles, but check you're local dealers or find one from their website.

I'm hoping to have these amps availabe during the classical guitar cruise as well during the debut of the FrameWorks MIDI/classical guitars

Have you tried any amp by Polytone?

I am not sure about the electrical traditional classical guitar, but i used a Godin Grand Concert through a Polytone and it sounded really good.

It is a small amp that sounds great and loud.

On the recommendation of my instructor, I bought a Marshall AS-50R. I use it with a Ramirez 2CWE classical/electric. It has a Fishman pickup built in.

I like the Marshall quite a bit. It doesn't "color" the sound of my guitar.

I just got a Genz Benz 100Watt amp for X-mas. Did some reaserch and chose this brand from all others.

It has everything and more. What is nice about it is that you can plug in 2 guitars (daughter and I).

The quality is first rate (I am a nut when it comes to craftmanship,
espesially on guitars).

I play it through a Cordoba CYWCE

I like all the tuning knobs in front, easier to tweek in.

Louie

I have been auditioning acoustic amps as of late and they include Trace, Marshall, Fender and Crate.

In my humble opinion the Fender amp (even though I detest Fender electric guitars and amps) with its DSP and natural sounding reverb was better than the rest. The notes were clean, had a usable EQ and played at respectable volume levels.

Will likely be my next purchase unless something else comes along I like better.

(The fender did cost more than most of the amps I listed with the exception of the Trace, it was around 450)

I tried a bunch of amps, and eneded up getting the Roland AC-60. It was a little on the expensive side, but other than that I have been extreemly pleased with it. Sounds very nartual as long as you don't turn on all the chorus and DSP junk. It comes with a "gig bag" that has a shoulder strap, which is really cool - I am able to make it from the car to the gig in one trip now! (inlcuding guitar, footstool, music stand, sheet music, players bench, amp and extension cord!) I'd recomend it, or at least try one before you put your credit card down...

I have an old Fender RAD bass amp. Haven't even used it in a couple years, but at the time people were telling me bass amps were better for acoustic instruments. It did well with one of those Dean Markley stick-on piezzo pickups. And with my SoloEtte plug-in model. :)
