I heard this guitar is very awesome and is very loud for there not to be a sound hole.
Anyone know about this guitar?

The Clarita Negra has a soundhole. It is located in the upper bout of the side.

Hey Joey
The Projection on the Clarita Negra is simply incredible.
I've recently heard Adam Del Monte play some awesome flamenco on his, which was built with an interchangable bridge in order to go from flamenco to classical.
Boaz is a fine craftsman indeed. I had the honor and pleasure to meet him down in San Diego at his distributor (fineguitarconsultants.com) and played a few of them. Liona Boyd bought 2 from him not to long ago as well.
check him out at www.boazguitars.com
He's going on the classical guitar cruise to give a lecture on the design behind the clarita negra and will be available at reduced prices to do set-up's, revoicings, and minor repairs during the event.

My advice: Play one of these guitars soon.

I am curious about the Clarita Negra of Boaz. Has anyone here actually played one and if so what were your impressions? Are there any sound clips of this guitar online?
From a structural point of view it would seem removing the sound hole from the top would increase the area that would move. In principle this should result in more bass, all things considered. Apparently the top and bottom can resonate. Anyway, it was quite interesting reading about this guitar and how he has some plan so that poor guys who need such an instrument can buy one in some pay forever plan or something.
Some of you good people have been around. I suppose if the Boaz guitar was as good as he claims it is then there would be some here who would have gone to look at one. The fellows who have GAS and are looking for that elusive grail haven't mentioned this guitar recently.

My guess is, we're comin' up on that here real soon!
I'll tell ya one thing, I'm seein' more & more "Flamenco" instruments that "ring like a bell"...& sustain....
I gotta try 'n' get that cruise thing outta my head!--That'a a shocker! And I perfectly understand! A caring responsible guy like that is pretty much "on call" --like a Doc'!---and it's realistic and sobering to accede of the inevitable fussilade of tinkering issues that will make themselves readily apparent.....and so too, to heartily be prepared & of good spirit over "workin'" through a "rare exotic time" like this....it's noble!...
...shocking!....but noble!.....'just that my notion of the also rare & exotic romantic ideas of "songs"; of the vast seas; under tropical sun & stars.....that moon...'then!--a fluttering strum! a fluttering heart and the gravity within' those very tropics!
And then, when it's certain that "fire", has at long supported "last"...all but reduced "ice" to it's base element of passion, harmony!--BLISS!
"A Voice"......from the too near "hushed" corridor, beckons in earnest, innocent of the age old conflict, that tourney;...and politely, with the greatest of dignity, ensures the now wizened pair that but for a momentary and excuisitely needed adjustment, that "rasping, buzzing near-growl" will no longer call out the whatever ingrained ailment that it might somehow have imparted upon our well-intending roving missionary; But for the "Cool, cool, Kitty".... regenerated of the interruptus, slinks gracefully and wonderingly away.....that cool confidence returning once again, building....regaining of that impugnable charisma; that "icy" composure that belies royalty...
And our minstrel likewise, his own head reeling from the event as in the many such as from before, can but "smile back" & bid a "Good Evening..." as he hands over the object of his desire....."this time..." 8)

I thought Clarita was sold by Tornavoz. Is that another Clarita? . BTW, Clarita negra is an oximoron. If she is CLARITA, she cannot be NEGRA! Someone explain it to me! :D

I played it (the Boaz). I don't know if it was a Clarita, a Negra, or what, but I do know it is an absolutely wonderful guitar. It played like a dream and sounded just as good.
A friend of mine in the diamond trade knows Boaz and was able to borrow it for awhile, and brought it up here to my office last year. I took a couple of shots of it:

*Pepe, I also "noted" that his "negras" are called "blancas"!(...or vice'y verse'y!!--sshh!....we mustn't "judge" by thine "color" of the "skin"? ;) --I guess??!!! )
In any event, they look AWESOME!!

They are out of the ordinary, nice woods too. $14,000 is a good price if the guitar sounds as it looks. The big port sound must be an exquisite thing to hear.
JV: Clarita: Light skin (like in Anglo-saxon)
Negra: Dark skin as in Orpheous'

I have to admit I didn't take notice of the brand of case.
One thing that threw me was I could not see how to change the strings! It looked like you'd have to reach inside and use ball end strings.
The guitar sounded exquisite tho.

that guitars sound must really be 'in yer face'
i couldn't play it as i like to rest my chin 'just there'
during marathon sessions. very cool though-and i wouldn't
refuse one as a gift  maybe some netting to keep
me falling 'in'.
can you imagine tarrega playing it? it would be full of ashes!!!!

Hey Brian - I'd have thought you would want the cup-holder option. You know, a place to rest your vodka and tonic, or Corona, or whatever your beverage of choice is these days.
