I can't decide between Schaller and Gotoh ($40 range).
Any positive or negative feedback on either brand?

This is for a Spanish made student guitar.

Doug: I replaced the tuning machines on my student Cordoba 20 with the Gotoh tuning machines, and they work great. They also look much better than the original tuning machines. Don't spend too much money on tuning machines for a student guitar!

On my Cordoba 20 Estudio I replaced the cheapie tuning machines with Schaller SHG1s. Huge difference in quality and performance- also look very classy. Less than $40 (35.90 plus shipping)

Folks,
Mahalo for the input.
I went with the Schaller SHG1 Hauser style from lmii.com. My instructor said that they seem as nice as the tuners on his $6,000 guitar.

As an FYI, I filled all the holes myself with a combination of broken toothpicks and a mixture of wood glue and sawdust. Fortunately only one hole on each side really needed to be filled.
