Why if C is the first note, it is not called A?
The other notation uses:
Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Si
Letter notation
uses: C D E F G A B
Why not name the first note as A and make things easier?

First note in regards to....????
Orchestra starting pitch (tuning) is A 440/442.
But C is merely the middle note of the piano and is referential.
Hope this helps. :)

hannabach really throws a monkey wrench in this thing--they refer to the "b" string as the "h" string. if one starts with the note "c" the "h" string flows until one has to include the note "a"--which if one follows the sequence, the note should be "i". if one starts with the note "a" there is that gap from note "a" to note "c". german has the letter b so one can only wonder why the letter "h".
