Hey Guys,

2day I bought my first guitar - a Rodriguez Almansa (Classical) :D

It is really nice and cost me £300 ($475)

However, because I am a begginer, I have no idea wot I'm doing, so I am goin to get a few lessons off this classical guitar player, and see if I want to go Classical or Flamenco.

In the meantime, can anyone plz suggest some warm up excercises to get my fingers used to the classical guitar and any exercises for begginers to help get me started on the road of the Spanish guitarists...

All comments would be well appreciated

Thx a lot,

Olly

Man, Scott Tennant's Daily Warm Up Routine, part of his highly acclaimed Pumping Nylon book, is a must.

And I thought you were getting a flamenco guitar?

Anyways, the best piece of advice I can give you is to learn to read music. The treble clef for guitar, which has a pretty big range, should be mastered as soon as you possibly can. This will help you heaps in the long run, and lead you into the practice of scales and more intense hand studies. For this you wil need a teacher, most likely, or a few good method books.

I recommend you visit these links. Some will contain more advanced material than others, but check them all out.

And remember... My teacher tells me every lesson: don't try to be the best so soon - it will come. Even the longest of journeys are made with the first small step.

Basically, get your technique right, and listen to the noise your instrument is making, and then the rest will come.

Hope I could help

A teacher, with the right literature and teaching practises, and of course cooperation and persistence on your half, will teach you how to read music.
