I live in North Carolina and right now it's fairly hot and humid. Temp is in the upper 90 degrees F. Anyway, I need some suggestions as to what to use for a humidifier for my guitars. I have them in the house where it is a constant temp. but I worry about when I take one of the guitars to my lessons. Can anyone give me advise as to what products to buy and use for this area? Thank you. John Lentz

Adrian

Is the Precision 70, the same humidifier that's in the humicase. If not, are they available separatly?

having lived in north carolina for a while i can attest to the humidity--i also grew up where too much humidity was the rule for many months of the year.
to answer your question:

if the guitars are kept indoors, where the temp is constant, the issue becomes:
1. are they kept in a/c? if so, then humidity may need to be added since a/c greatly reduces humidity.
2. if not, and if the humidity is consistently over 65%, de-humidification would seem to be inorder.

since your question involving transporting them, i think the general rule of not putting them in the trunk, leaving them in a hot environment (inside of the car with the windows up), etc. would be of importance. and of course, if the guitar inside of the house is near 50% humidity, and the humidity inside of the car is really low due to a/c, then a portable humidifier would be inorder--to prevent a radical drop in humidity.

 this is a car trunk on a 90 degree day.

steve,

The Credo Precision 70 is available seperately here:
http://www.guitarsalon.com/store.php?it=ACHUMPR-00283

You can also read a feature article we did recently for our email Newsletter on humidification and its importance here:

I see, sorry.

Actually, we are developing the HumiCase "pods" to be available in an in-case humidification kit soon, since the HumiCase (http://www.guitarsalon.com/store.php?it=ACHUMCL-03044) has been so popular. It will be for players who already own a case and will include:

2 HumiCase pods
1 Digital Hygrometer
1 Bottle of Humidifier Solution

Currently, though, the Credo Precision 70 (http://www.guitarsalon.com/store.php?it=ACHUMPR-00283)is our only stand-alone humidifier.

Thank You.
