I thought I had read somewhere in this forum not long ago about software that can be used to slow down a music recording, and make it much easier to identify and transcribe the notes involved. Does anyone know what it is, and is it available for Macs?

 Macs. No idea what frum post you are referring to, but that piece of software sounds familiar...

theres (ASD) amazing slow downer for OS X - which is all right I suppose, but go and get Transcribe 6 for OS X. Both are available from www.versiontracker.com

Good luck!

Most decent audio apps can slow down music, but the problem is when you slow it down it lowers pitch. It may help determining intervles but not notes unless you had it used with an octiver and were able to set both up perfectly.

Cakewalk can slow music for sure (it is one of the only mid priced apps I have ever used. I use a program called SAW it is out of most peoples budget and dont think it slows music any better than Cake.)

Good luck

Great thing about Transcibe - you can slow the track and yet maintain the pitch. The notes just become longer.

Thanks to all who replied. Ed, I tried Amazing Slow Downer, and I was exactly what I had in mind. Very easy to use.
