Until my first post I never knew there was a rest stroke. Now it seems obvious that there would be a different way to fingerpick to create separation between the notes. I practiced last night while working on scales and wasn't sure whether I was doing it properly. When alternating between I and M on scales do you use your I to stop the string from vibrating after picking it with the said finger and ditto for the M? How exactly do you execute rest strokes?

One more thing, I ordered Pumping Nylon last night to work on technique, does this book address rest stroke practice?

Yes you will find that Pumping Nylon addresses rest stroke, or apoyondo.

It is a terrific resource, and if you are confident in your hand positions and music reading, I'd suggest that you look for 24 Diatonic Major and Minor Scales - the Segovia edition.

Don't forget the "A" finger...
