i think the thread says everything...i'm looking for a mic/piezzo that i can play in front of an audience

in two weeks i have a gig with two friends and we need a mic or a piezzo that we can play there because without an amp it doesn't make any sense

so what do you prefer?

a mic? or a piezzo or a piezzo with a preamp

which of these possibilities would you choose? and why?
which gives the best sound to a good cheap price?

i think a good mic costs a lot so i think the question will be: just a piezzo or piezzo with preamp (fishman, shadow?, di mazzio)

thx 4 help

some months have passed and know I'm looking for a good mic ;)

the question is: AKG Micro Mic C411 or Schertler DYN-G-Set Guitar Transducer or a dynamical microphon which you can put in front of you (like shure sm 57 or 58 or AKGs mics)

the problem is, if you put a mic in front of you, you need a really high quality mic and even than, you shouldn't move because the sound will change...and that's bad. but i just know two contact mics (AKG C411 and Schertler Guitar Transducer as i mentioned above)

so do you know some other mics? and if possible with some experience review ;)

THX!

PS: do you know which mics vicente uses? coz i heard him once in vienna and he had a mic, but is was a contact mic and i can't imagine that he used the AKG C411...but i've no idea which mic he used...

I just got a matching pair of Oktava MK 319 for use in my very basic home studio. I have many high end mics but needed a matching pair for stereo recording. The Oktavas were very inexpensive (paid 100 for the pair) and they perform well beyond my expectations (they are reviewed very highly also)
(And with my tube preamp feel they sound better than my EV or AKG)

While they might not sound as good as a 1000 dollar mic they are indeed very close. I mention this because it is not necessary to spend a fortune to sound like one.

But for playing live I prefer a guitar with built in electronics with about 50-50 mix on the internal mic - pezo.

Mics sound more natural. I use the Shure SR 57. You can also "work" a mic, moving in closer or backing off to adjust volume. Piezos need a preamp. They do not sound as natural, but they are very feed back resistant which is a plus if you are playing on stage with others who have loud instruments.
