I'm looking for info on Miguel Malo Martinez, a luthier who worked in the Ramirez shops during the 1960s; I own a '69 that is stamped "MM," which I know from the luthier list on the Ramirez website are the initials of this luthier. Anyone out there with any light they can shed?

Try Zavaleta's website. Zavaletas@earthlink.net. They have a page of guitar makers and Miguel Malo is listed there. From his profile, it sounds like the guy you are looking for.

I had a '70 Ramirez 1a, stamped MT. Mariano Tezanos was the luthier who built it. Wish I still owned it. It was a super guitar.

Many thanks. Actually, the zavaletas site may be where I found that luthier list. I pass through so many of them without keeping track.

These "golden age" Ramirez guitars really are something, aren't they? I got mine from my teacher, who bought it new in '70. He sold it to me when he got a new guitar: he told me he wanted to pass it on to someone who appreciated and could play it, and I was so flattered I couldn't refuse. I'm really glad I didn't.
