Greetings folks,
I just found a charming little video (that’s new to me), with some great footage of the maestro performing from his home studio in Paris. The film looks to be shot some time in the fifties and there’s a nice view of the Eiffel Tower seen from his studio window (provides a nice atmosphere).
There is only about twenty minutes of the maestro performing because the video is a compilation of three musical legends. The first two on the video are; Jan Peerce and Marian Anderson both vocalists, Segovia’s section is last but it is well worth the wait.
The selections he performs are;
1. Praludium For Lute in C minor, Bach-BWV 999
2. Variation on a theme of Mozart, Fernando Sor
3. Sonatina, Torroba
4. El Noi De La Mare, Anon. Traditional Spanish melody
Four great selections with some good camera angles allowing one to see those graceful fingers in action.
Its a Kultur historical film production called appropriately enough; Jan Peerce, Marian Anderson & Andres Segovia.
Just thought I’d pass it on to you Segovia fans out there who may not have been aware of it. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. :D
Respectfully,
Mark
