Dear Friends of "Smith and Friends,"
We’re back, and soon. The triennial event is on Wednesday, January 21st, 8pm, in Newman Recital Hall, USC. Virtuoso friends are the Armadillo String Quartet, flutist David Shostac, cellist John Walz, violinist Endre Balogh, saxophonist Douglas Masek & guitarist Kenton Youngstrom. There’s a world premiere: "Byzantine Variations," an intense, powerful work by Bogdanovic for guitar and quartet. Music by Bach, Bartok, Boccherini, Gershwin, Grieg and Robert Linn complete the program. It’s free and a party follows. Please come. A great recital requires a virtuoso audience. Please R.S.V.P. the reception so I can better plan the party food.
Yours,
Jim (& Friends)
