Question about strings

Good evening to all

How long to you find it takes for strings to settle down and hold pitch for more than an hour or so after fitting ? My experience is that this 'bedding' down time can be more then a week - temperature variations excluded.

Would be interested to see other's experience here,

Hey IanR, for me the bass strings settle down first, then the high strings. If I want them to settle down really fast I put them on to pitch and stretch them out for about 1/2 hour to an hour, but only if I have to play out the same day. LATER.

About a week sounds right. Some strings I have used never seem to settle down. Also, I have noticed that the same brand of strings on different guitars take different times to settle down as well.

I suppose a week is about right. I try not to change basses and trebles at the same time as the trebles always take longer to settle in. It seems at times, especially in summer, that just when the basses are settled in, it is time to change them again.
