Anyone know where I can get a good (Acoustic) version of Tarrega's Adelita?
All I have found on the web are several recording by different people using a classical equipped with a pickup.
My problem is with the 2nd part of the piece. In particular the ornamentation in the 3rd and 4th measure. Trying to stay within tempo and clearly sounding the ornaments during this part is killing me. Those electric versions I found do this well but I would like to hear someone achieve the same results without a pickup.

I do have Liona Boyd's version and she slows down or holds these notes just long enough that when I play along (at about 75% of the recorded tempo) I am almost there. The 'slow down' is actually quite pleasing but I still would like to hear other versions/interpretations of this piece.

Another thing I have noticed was the last half of the 2nd part of the electric versions I have heard sounds very staccato while L. Boyds is much smoother. Which is the right? So....

Anyone know where I can find one or more versions of this piece?

I've got a book titled "The Francisco Tarrega Collection" which contains 14 of Tarrega's pieces edited and performed by Paul Henry. Adelita is one of the pieces. The book includes a CD. The book also includes standard notation along with tablature. It cost $17.95.

Here's a list of the pieces included:

Adelita
Capricho Arabe
Estudio Brillante
Gran Vals
Gran Jota
La Alborada
Lagrima
Malaguena
Maria
Marieta
Pavana
Prelude
Recuerdoes de la Alhambra
Tango

Hope this helps.

jsilva: Thanks Joe. Do you know who performs this?

snetzley: Gran Jota huh... Little out of my leaque I'm afraid :D What is the quality of the CD? Your post reminded me that I have the Noad CD that contains Adelita. Wouldn't ya know it... It's played on an electric. :x You can even hear the harmonic feedback in spots. It is kind of an odd recording considering the other tracks are fine and sound what I think a classical should sound like. It sure makes me wonder if others who play this piece have the same problems I have with these 2 measures. I tried to play it on my steel string Larrivee (no pickup). Lot easier there cause it takes very little effort/pressure to sound the notes. The air pressure of my finger as it approaches the string is enough to sound the notes.

Don't know. It comes from a Guitar Solo Student book. It is on the accompanying CD.
