Can anyone comment on the difference between the Fustero and the Reischl Tuning Machines? I have a Ramirez 4E with a set of Fusteros (not sure which) and at times have difficulty fine tuning the guitar. What is the difference between the two, and is it worth the upgrade?

Fustero tuners are handmade German machines. Very precise, a little stiff, but super-high quality. Fustero tuners are Spanish made, nice quality, but more machine made. They are less precise but work quite well most of the time. Depending on the model, they can be excellent. Your 4E has some level of Fustero but they are not the highest end Fustero offers.

Does this help?

Yes, is there any way to tell which model of Fustero is on the 4E? They seem to "stick" a bit when I am trying to dial in the right note, and I wonder if an upgrade will help.

It seems as though I get close to being in pitch, and a slight turn pushes me over. getting precise can be tricky.

Ramirez4E does not have consistency in the type of tuners. One I played had Fustero Model 212 (not thelowest quality, but the second up). If you want to buy the excellent type, get the models 202, 200 or 206, in that order and be ready to pay 6 or 8 times the price of the 212. Fustero 202 are my favorites.
