I bought one of these (runs on pc) seems pretty good, several compasses, and you can vary volume, speed & sound, beats are sounded and shown in colour, £7 or $£10 cash direct.
Search on Flamenco Master Metronome in Google.

Paul, yes I also enjoy using this very flexible software but the occasion is rare that I'm wanting to practice sitting at my PC.
I wanted something to sit on the music stand and decided to buy the Mundobeat metronome only to find that it is no longer manufactured or imported to the UK. The ex-importers gave the impression that it had been a problem product and expensive for what it was. I didn't mind paying because it was a specialist product and to my knowledge it was the only one!
Anyone know of another handheld programmable metronome for flamenco? (or is the Mundobeat still made?)

Graeme: you can go to www.flamencoconnection.com
they sell it. they have an ac adapter but for american electricity.
it is a great tool. pricey, but it is the only one of its kind.
be careful when visiting the site: you may end up maxing out your credit card--they have a very very large inventory of flamenco cd's, sheet music, etc.

Thanks for your replies. I've just ordered a Mundobeat from Flamenco Connection. It certainly sounds good on the VKO website although I expect programming to be tricky at first.........and anyway, the exchange rate is good for us at present!
Thanks again, Graeme

Interested to hear if you are able to get a power source that works in the UK?
Previous reviews indicate that it devours batteries.
I asked about this product in the Flamenco Shop in London, they thought it was no longer made, but said it was very good.
I am delighted with the pc based Flamenco Master, it is on my laptop so portability is not a huge problem.

I received my Mundobeat from Flamenco Connection (excellent service!) a couple of weeks ago and I'm VERY impressed. I was prepared to be disappointed with the build quality since it doesn't look so hot in the pictures, but it is a solid bit of kit!
Ergonomically it is very good and programming no problem at all. It can be seen from the specified current consumption that routine battery operation is not an option so I purchased a UK mains adapter (Compagnito: from Wilkinsons at 2.99 UKP!) and fabricated a holder to fix it to my music stand and......it's changed my life!
If you are learning flamenco, especially without a tutor, I reckon this gadget can be revolutionary. I'm also surprised at how clear a "picture" of the compas the simple counting display gives; it becomes second nature very quickly. Definitely the best 60 quid I've spent!
Thanks for the tips keith & stevec (I did resist temptation at FC!),
Graeme
