Sorry Ed, no Torroba yet.
With all this talk of interp. I decided to record the prelude in d as well.
Recorded with the same setup as first 3 upload but using a diffrent audio app. (SAW Studio Pro) and have not really got the hang of it yet. Sounds a bit tinny from the DX Sony Reverb (have not installed any of my VST reverb plugs and this should warm the tone).
Need to change strings. Pro Arte extra hard.

First take after warm up.

Expect 38 of them, and 1000 views.
You clearly need way more rubato 8)
Alllllll jokes aside, well done Jonny! You've pulled it off nicely, with the only thing thats questionable about the playing is the sound of the recording... It sounds to me that you are plucking the strings, rather than a smoother striking action. You are clearly a talented guitarist, but I just get the feeling there might be some tiny right hand issues to sort out, and then you will be better still!
Perhaps nail shape? Perhaps your hand's approach to strings? Perhaps my imagination?
Either way, keep them coming. A nice slow torroba is what the doctor ordered.
I agree there. There is definatly a right hand issue.
Present in all the clips.
I think your diagnosis is accurate. He's popping the strings too much,
and its noisy.
Jonny, you need to check out Pumping Nylon w/ Scott Tenant.
He runs through clean planting with the right hand for smooth
clean execution.
Your left hand needs no help 8)
Thanks for posting clips, i really enjoy listening.
I hope you post more.
Keep up the good work man.

Boy Ed and Todd did you nail it!!!!!
(That too was a joke of sorts!)
Yes, I have right hand issues.
I have only been playing CG for about 8-9 months now and my R hand is my weakest link in both physical ability and nails. This is something I work on daily. I have found it near impossible to grow nails but do try and use the nubs I do have. I feel my form is correct, I am sort of fanatic about it.
I recorded this song using ideas and statements made by people on this forum.
Firstly I recorded it with no rubato because I wanted to make it sound a bit sterile just to prove a point, I don’t know that I did but WTF right!
Secondly, I wanted to try and play the song using what little nails I did have, because of some suggestion about my tonality. An experiment of sorts. If you seen my nails you would freak, no real shape, jagged and chipped. Maybe I will post a pic.
Thanks for your comments, always interested to see what you have to say.
considering the time you've put in, you're doing PHENOMENALY!
Seriously, you must have a knack to get that good that fast.
You really dont have much of an issue really. Its simply a matter
of getting your nails in decent shape, and doing a little more
work on planting your fingers on the string, flush, before releasing.
This takes time. There are no short cuts. You're definatly on your
way.
As i said before, keep it up. It will pay dividends.
You're a player J!!

I thought that series was fairly large, is there a volume that I should get. I would be interested in R hand stuff but not really wanting warm ups, scales and exercises.
Thx for your nice comments.

some way Jonny handling the melody is out of my imagine. But I think playing music of J.S.Bach is some kind of archaeology. Try to hear some original one by cello.
I made records for this piece many times.

Jonny:
My nails are different to the way Scott Tenant describes in his book. But all guitarists know that there are many different ways to do your nails.
mine are on a slight slant / that way. But they are rounded and smoothed and dont necessarily have to e all that long. Try this, but they must be very smooth, and try slanting your hand closer to (but not) parallel with the strings as opposed to perpindicular.
Just a suggestion, but I have done this with instruction (a teacher) and my tone has improved heaps.
On top of this comes Tennant's planting splurg which helps also. There is no need to pluck, just to plant firmy and let the string slide down your finger(nail).
JoeNo1: Nice stuff. A bit fast for my liking, but you kept it up, which impressed me a great deal. Keep it up.

Hey Jonny,
Just for my own curiosity, do you have any other music or guitar background? (besides the 8-9 mos classical guitar) My nails - although smooth - drive me crazy sometimes but they're definately a critical part of being able to play smoothly!

I don't have time to play guitar now. I cut all my nails. for curiosity, I tried to play and record something to see what will be. the result is like the following.

chapmab: I have played guitar for about 15 years. Worked at a major guitar /amp manufacture in guitar R&D for about 3 years when I was going to school. And felt I took electric guitar about as far as it could go (or wanted it to go) after learning Vai's "Passion and Warfare" and Satch's "Flying in a Blue Dream" albums. There just wasn’t anything really I wanted to accomplish and there was not really a challenge. Then I discovered CG and it opened my eyes to a new realm of playing and challenges.
JoeNo1: The version I play is a bit more involved. I did learn the version you played but had to forget it and re-learn the version I recorded (what a pain!). While it is not the original Cello score, it is the version that Segovia and others recorded.
I do have the sheet, and my personal hand transcribed tab if you want it.
I would be more than happy to email it.
