a few weeks ago i tried a gitano guitar support and although it gaves support, the one thing i really did not like about it was the super suction  taking the gitano off was a chore and led to thoughts about my beloved guitar being pulled apart  the gitano i think was made for the classical position and not a flamenco position so fitting it into a case while attached was not going to happen.

i read up on the EFEL guitar support and the one thing that was impressive was the ability to easily remove it. the simplicity of this is awe inspiring--the ONE suction cup has two protruding strips (molded into the suction cup) that with a light lifing removes the suction cup. the EFEL works well on french polished guitars.

the EFEL really works great for a flamenco position--the apparatus fits on the front (upper) bout and depending on the placement you get the angle and height of either a relaxed (i.e., paco) position or a tradition flamenco position.

i have used it for a while now and love it--and really really truly love the fact that my guitar is not being pulled about by a suction cup that has more suction than a dirt devil vacuum cleaner.

I always wondered about the suction cups myself (although I never tried one) Instead i bought the Dynarette cushion. I got the large one and really love it. It is full height on the front and angles back towards the body and puts my guitar in the perfect position for me. Stays on my leg well and leaves no marks on the side of the guitar. Bought it from GSI. Their service and shipping was great.

Boys, boys, boys! What am I going to do with you?! :) I use a Gitano guitar support on my Ramirez without any problem at all. And that Ramirez is my baby! It works great no matter what position I sit in. A couple of things to know:

1. To attach the suction cups, just breathe on them and press them into position.

2. You can slide the support off of the suction cups to put the guitar in the case. My case is tight, so that's what I do. The suction cups just stay on the guitar.

3. To remove the suction cups you simply lift an edge of suction cup until the suction is broken. Don't try to just pull the suction cups off. I'd be afraid for my guitar if I did that. They do not leave a mark on my guitar.

sharon, ramirez estudios are built to withstand world war 3. i would not hesitate to put them on a classical, but a flamenco, for a flamenco position just did not cut it for me. getting the suction cups to stick was NO problem--rather, it was getting them to unstick that was my issue. and having to put a fingernail under the cup and risk a crack was just too much.

and the damn thing did not fit in my case and sliding the the thing off the suction cups involved too much jiggling and such. another reason is that i do not use it all the time--only when my back aches so having it off is a definite.
but, for a classical, and one that is built like a tank, it is probably the best bet.

gee, if i were reading this and not writing it i would think i was a princess or something

I didn't realize flamenco guitars were such delicate creatures. HA! Just kidding!
