The power output of an amplifier ("the number of watts") is only one factor (and not all that important a factor either) you should consider. I'd be happy to give you some recommendations, but I'd really have to know what kind of guitar you would be amplifying and by what method (built-in transducer?, microphone?, combination?, etc...). I'd also like to know what kind of situations you'd be using the amplifier -- in your bedroom?, in a coffee house/restaurant? in a large auditorium? Would you be playing as a soloist or with other musicians? ....and of course the most important factor: price range?
