part of the Chicago flamenco festival...

Richard Bruné
Guitar Making in the Modern Era
Friday, February 4 at 6:00 p.m.

"Richard Bruné is the “luthier” of some of the finest guitars made today. The great guitarists such as Andrés Segovia, Sabicas and the Romeros have played his guitars. In this lecture-concert he will enlighten us with his deep knowledge of the evolution of flamenco guitar music and delight us with his mastery of the key instrument for flamenco."

it's free...I think I may be attending this :D

All the lectures to be given at the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago 875 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 2940, 312. 335-1996. Free Admission

P.S. for those that visit Todd's forum, yes this is the exact same post... I just wanted to let as many people know as possible, in case anyone is in Chicago or nearby that would like to attend

Too bad it has be in the Chicago Loop. In the John Hancock building of all places. Trying to get there by 6:00pm on a Friday is almost impossible.
Brune needs to get out of the city with stuff like this. There would be a massive turnout if he did this lecture in the burbs instead.
It could be Segovia himself playing there at 6:00pm on a Friday and people would pass it up. Too much traffic in Chitown to pull that gig off.
Should have booked it for a Saturday evening instead.

I have great respect for R.E. Brune. I first learned to make guitars his way. He does not make guitar the Spanish way. He has his own way of joining the neck to the sound box. Segovia played one of his guitars and he is an accomplished flamenco player. He is a good lecturer too. I would like to ask one of the forum member attendings the presentation to ask him a question. Any volunteers?
In one of his presentations published by the GAL Magazine, he says that he (actually, he said his nephew) can French polish a guitar in one day. I just want to know how he does it.

Thanks, Pepe
