Hi Keith
I've seen on the link from boston.com, that there will be a flamenco festival in february in Boston. That's cool isn't it? 8)
This will warm up the hearts even when the weather is freezing.
We have currently about the same weather over here in Central Europe.
That's why i will escape in february to southern spain to take some flamenco classes with Maestro Carbonero in Jerez.
Btw. Tomatito will come to Switzerland for a concert on Febr. 2nd.
I have booked the concert half year in advance and have therefore received ticket for the first row.
This will be a great flamenco night in Zürich.

armando: yes we do have a festival of sorts--this week at the public library there have been showings of standard flamenco videos--suara, etc. a few years ago i met jocelyn ajami, a woman who does documentaries. she did a documentary on carmen amaya which had a lot about sabicas. i actually had the luck to spend a few hours with her talking about the video and other related things.
if folks want to spend $30 for an excellant portrait of carmen, including a lot of dance video, definitely pony up the money. there is a scene from 'where are the boys' or a title to that effect where she dances with such energy that it justifies the purchase. sabicas is the acccompanist. this movie was one of those w.w.ii movies that were design to raise money and provide encouragement.
getting to the events may prove difficult given we are getting 6 more inches of snow today. i can only imagine what the folks on the cape are going through--they are getting a fresh 10 inches on top of 3 feet. and the folks with their houses caked in ice? yikes?
