Hello All,

I am quite new to this site and forum but I have been able to find a wealth of information and look forward to future postings and conversations with you all.

I am in the market for a new classical and I am really stuck on 2 models. A 2004 Ramirez SP or a 1985 Kohno Professional-J. I would really appreciate some opinions on these guitars and the decision you would make.

Thanks,
Steve

well as I understand it, the kohno has brasilian rosewood b/s... that alone makes it extremely tempting, as long as it is in good condition

I have not had the pleasure of playing either of these models, but if I had to choose, I would go with the Kohno.

The one you should buy is the one you like the best. It really is that simple.

Making a desicion between two very different excellent guitars is more a matter of personal taste. Play both and you will find out. 8)

I agree that it really comes down to the one I like the most but from what I have read the Kohno seems to be the one of higher quality. Maybe its just that I am looking at the SP as not being part of the Ramirez Professional line and the Kohno is a concert guitar.

I concur with the advice to play both models first, if possible. You probably would be happy with either, if they are set up right for your style and preference [action, etc.]. I have had a dozen and a half guitars, presently play the best I've owned which is a Ramirez 1a from their higher end concert guitars. I also owned one of their "student" models and it was excellent [2E] and I've also heard good things about those Kohnos.
