I recently started learning classical guitar and discovered my love for the flamenco sound. I'd like to continue with my classical lessons, but add a regular flamenco lesson. I need a flamenco guitar and would like to buy something that works well as a hybrid and cost around $1,000 usd or less. Ideally, it would have qualities that improved it's durability/lifespan, but retain the low action of a flamenco. Any ideas/suggestions? Everything helps. Also, any information on Los Angeles teachers? I appreciate everything.

Hey wraine!...you already have and will keep a classic ,correct?...Yamaha has an outstanding-right-out-of-the-box! flamenco--CG171SF--$350@ GC...(from memory) & Tak. has one -cutaway w/ electrics --a "classic" BUT w/ flamenco type(L-O-W)action--$8-900?@GC...........careful w/ "hybrid-ing"; To get the low action--your classic must have a "neck angle to bridge height" relationship that will allow the saddle to be adjusted within the necessary parameters;I have one that is borderline.....make sure you look at what's offered here at GSI in the lower price ranges---only the "best"!; better yet, call or stop in,--I think they're a few blocks up from the pier--ask about local instruction...Perf is in Duarte, you'll find him here--a member....Hasta!--Jubi

:D to warine i would try a codobra flamenco model.i tried the blanca prof.model and it was awesome.around$ 8 hundred they also have another model around $5 hundred.they both sounded great to me.lots of projection, and nice warm tones.great guitars for the money, good luck.one bird in a tree does not sing better then another bird, only differently. 8)

cut out the middle-man. the factory guitars sold by Cordoba are actually made by Alhambra. your money would be well spent with the Alhambra 7fc (cypress) or 7fp (indian rosewood) models. if you don't want an Alhambra, I believe Burguet also makes an excellent guitar in this price range. the yamaha is also supposed to be good if you wanted to spend the minimum amount to get something decent

any flamenco guitar should work well as a 'hybrid' as long as the action is not so low that it buzzes a lot
