Can anybody put me on to anything that might be happening in New York City on March 19th? I am going up for a long weekend, actually, the goal being to hear Dmitri Hvorostovsky sing and catch some opera the other two nights I will be there. I am getting very frustrated trying to get info ahead of time about classical music events other than the major venues.
thanks

Check out www.carnegiehall.org and www.lincolncenter.org. Go to the "calenders" and/or "visitor information". Or, when you get into town pick up a copy of "New York Magazine", for concerts, restuarants, shows, etc......

the carnegie hall site is the least infomative I have ever seen...we are already doing Lincoln Center, and the 92nd st "Y" site is about as bad as the carnegie site.
I though New Yorkers were at the epicenter of everything ( that's a joke - I lived there 14 years and it is probably one of the most provincial populations on earth.)
we kind of wanted to make some plans before we left, but I guess we'll just have to wing it. thanks for the suggestions, anyway.

"The New Yorker" has a very detailed calender of events. Check it out online:

So, what are you complaining about, web sites, or the City??? If you lived here for 14 years you wouldn't be comparing the City to its websites. If we're so provincial why don't you just stay in Alabama
