I got my first offical, PAYING, gig for classical guitar. Details are not yet finished, but I will be doing a duet for classical guitars at a friend of a friends wedding in May! I'm so excited. I get the music this week, so I can start practicing!

Thank you
Have a nice day :)

Travis,

nice one. when you know, give us the set list.
i played my brothers wedding a few years back.
it was outside so i told him (during the rehersal) to walk around
so i knew how far i could be heard. the guitar carried very well, i was supprised. the 747 in holding pattern overhead during the tarrega section at the ceremony
certainly covered any mistakes.
if i could offer a little advice for when you are performing, eye contact. eye contact, eye contact with the audience is always a plus as it makes it feel
that much more an intamite gathering. (people like to feel acknowledged by the performer)
good luck Travis.

And don't forget to smile! I always forget to do that. Oh, and breath.

Don't know the details but if you can, amplify yourselves. Always helps a bit to be louder. Good luck

A big step in any musician's progress. Do they still say "Break a leg"?

I don't know ... I don't think Segovia was big on smiling and eye contact although I never saw him play live. Personally, I feel the connection through the music of an artist and don't really care if they ever look up from the fretboard. ... and when I play ... if I start making eye contact and smiling, I'll be making mistakes. Smile and make eye contact in between songs :)

I guess it depends on the difficulty of the pieces you'll be playing how much you can look around.

In any case ... just play your best, it will be an excellent experience!! (don't hav etoo much champagne before, it affects your ability more than you think  )

Stefan*,
that's what i meant, let them know you appreciate their attention.
don't just look down the whole time.

Gotcha! I just thought you meant try to make eye contact while you play, which can also work, but only if you have your stuff down cold.

I was reading the liner notes from a CD by Pepe Romero called 'Flamenco' from 1962. It says that they adjusted the mics, he put his head donw toward the guitar, and didn't look up again until the performance was over ... 1 hour later
