Can anyone give an opinion about the Vowinkel 2A guitar, the one that's listed for $2,500 by GSI?

Ken - I remember talking with David Collet @ GSI about it last year. He said it tended to have a fast attack, closer to a flamenco in that sense. Give him a call, I'm sure he can expand on my meager description.

it is a counter part effort by Otto, and Antonio Picado, whom i have one of his model 54's. He is relatively unknown, but his guitars can easily contend with Kenny hill's master series. That cool headstock design is Picado's, and i would recommend rather than paying for Vowinkel's name on the Guitar, just get one of Picado's---hes doing most of the work on that guitar anyway. I can guarentee that. Just pick up one of Picado's guitars from classical guitar store--sole supplier in US.. Great guitars,

Never heard of Antonio Picado, but the Vowinkel you are referring to is NOT made by Vowinkel. A real Vowinkel goes for about $6,000. So just beware of buying "names", not guitars. GSI is real slick about that...........

Hello all,
Just to clarify, the Vowinkel-Picado 2a and 2aF are not relabled Picado guitars. These guitar are entirely designed from the ground up by Otto Vowinkel. In fact, they were indeed built by him until very recently. So, in buying these guitars, you are not paying an upcharge for a "name". As the label states, this is a Vowinkel built by Picado, in the same way a "PB" stamped Ramirez is built by Paulino Bernabe.
I had to defend this guitar as I own one personally, which I purchased years before I was at GSI. I have been extremely pleased with every aspect of the guitar. Ken23, I would be happy to give you more detailed feedback if you'd like.
Hope this information helps.
-Dave
