I've noticed some guitars like a '95 Rein cedar and my pre-millenium Humphrey have a certain ability for the trebles to 'ring' out and resonate very well. meaning once you pick the certain it immediately responds as well as resonate very well even after your left hand is removed from the fret board. How often do you find a guitar that can do that, i've many great guitars but some don't tend to do it as well. Can you expect all high end guitars to have that ability? Or is it just some guitars and the way they are built that have that sound. I'm interested in my next guitar having that sound for sure, it's very pleasant to be able to have it. My Humphrey is perfect though it's a bit smaller for my hands, it's a 640 scale and slightly smaller body.

I have a 2000 Hector Marrero that the trebles ring out on pretty fiercely, it is without a doubt one of the best guitars I have played (allright, I think it is the best, but I am not impartial here). I think Hector modifies the tops of his guitars (he learned from Velasquez) to do that, but I will ask him again when I see him again. Where are you located in Florida? There are more than a few of us here in the state, drop a post back and let me know where you are, I'd be happy to bring it by (I had to put six guitars in my car to haul a%& during the last hurricane season). All the best - DD

LOL i'm located in the part of florida called "south alabamba". Actually Pensacola. But I travel to Daytona once in a while to visit my condo. I'll be going down there in the end of May for the Stetson International guitarshop that's in Deland, fl only 20-30 from my condo.

My Humphrey guitar is also capable of those beautiful ringing notes. It's really nice to have, although it's a short scale guitar and I have long fingers.

But Hector guitars I've actually been looking into. I found out about him a few weeks ago and I liked what I heard a lot. So maybe next time I go down to that part of Florida I can hear them. Unless your from the Panhandle? Doubt it.

No, I'm down in Palm Beach county, Hector's workshop is about 15 miles from where I live. If you end up in the area, I'd be happy to let you try the guitar out, shoot me an email, it's dhderby@yahoo.com

I know what you mean by that sustain in the Humphreys. I really like his guitars and I've played many good ones. I know many are a bit hesitant about this but I just want to put it out--I think carbon trebles work very well if you're looking for a bit more sustain and projection. I use them and I love them. I know they're hated by many though. I think this thing about a good treble sustain is important and not something you'll find in a pricey guitar. For example, Jose Oribe (don't know how much but I think the list is over $8000), always had amazing, rich, lush basses but never clear trebles. All around the trebles worked well with the bass sound that the guitar produced and they are really wonderful guitars.
