Does anybody know how I can go about learning the art of classical guitar making? Where do I start? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi cardevi
Go to www.cumpiano.com, and there you will find the information you need. William Cumpiano is a well known luthier in the New England area, and he gives lessons on guitar making at his shop.

Here is a good forum, worth reading even if you never post:

http://www.mimf.com/cgi-bin/WebX

Not only do people seek advice, they also post thier works.

There are several categories, so get familiar with the forum before posting - the site admins are sometimes pretty abrupt and they may put your post into a different category if they see fit.

"Flat-Top Acoustic Guitars and Bass Guitars" is typically where you will find classical guitar info. posted.

An interesting web site/source for starters is the Guild of American Luthiers. They list a number of places that offer classes on guitar building. Also, for a good introduction, buy the book by Irving Sloan on building classical guitars. A source for materials and books is Luthiers Mercantile.
