hey everyone. i'm going to start playing classical guitar. and i was considering buying a smaller instrument. are 630mm string length guitars easier on your left hand in terms of chords you really have to stretch for? are there any drawbacks? i read somewhere that 650mm string length guitars allow for a richer repertoire of the left hand. is this true?

do you know of any 630mm guitars under $1,000?

your thoughts on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

The longer length allows for more tension on the strings. This usually means you will have a louder and more precise sounding guitar. Think of it as the difference between extra hard and normal tension strings. As for ease of playability. It all depends on your handsize. If you have smaller hands than a shorter scale length will probably be easier and larger hands will be the opposite.
