Juan Lopez Aguilarte was born in Sevilla in 1941 and worked with Antonio Marin Montero, Manuel Lopez Bellido and Antonio Duran before establishing his own workshop at Placeta Aliatar, 3 in Granada in 1980.

I haven't actually seen or played any of his guitars but he apparently had good training.

Thanks Mr. Vega, I was very near the area Placeta Aliatar but no one knows of him there. I have seen and heard a player in Granada with Juan guitar, it sounds very nice and very nice to look as well, at the end of the show I asked the guitarist about his guitar, he said the maker's name and left.
That was the last time I heard of this name.

I bought one of his guitars in the mid-80's. It had good sound, but was a little rough in workmanship. Overall, a nice guitar for the price at that time.

Hello Tim,

I think he has been improved with his craftmenship. But would you place him in the same class with Manuel Bellido?

Thanks,

I think he is a fine guitar maker. He has moved from Aliatar and is not advertising but if you are interested I can put you in contact with him.

I don't know how he's doing these days, but I liked the sound of the one I had years ago. At the time, he was not at the level of the older Bellido... but it has been more than 20 years. I'm sure he has improved.
