Hi guys,
I've been wandering around on this site for a very long time, reading the forum and staring at guitars I can't afford, but I never posted anything.
Anyhow, I really liked Pepe's idea with those two pieces (Mi Favorita and Recreo) and I gave them a try so...here I am. I know it's been some time since he posted them but I had to figure out a way to put my videos on line. This "YOUTUBE" site is exactly what I needed.
And by the way, my name is Serban and I've been playing guitar for about 5 years. This forum gave me a lot of motivation to practice. Looking forward for some good advice.
Thanks

Hey Serban. Welcome to the forum! Nice playing. That's quite impressive for only 5 years of playing guitar. Keep up the good work! :D

Nice playing! You play with alot of feeling. Your tone is very good, and you create tonal colors with your right hand very nicely. And lastly, your playing seems relaxed and fluid. Thanks for posting. Keep them coming!

True about your sound, it seems to be very secure and rounded.
Your attitude toward playing in front of the camera is relaxed, making it easy to listening to you, as well.
If you allow me, I think you could benefit from taking those pieces without the guitar, and making a map of it, they are traditional simple music which can come as really beautiful, if you separate clearly the melody (which you do) coupling it with a more subtle, controlled articulation of the chordal accompaniements.
The rhythm is hectic mainly for your accentuations, again, if you first analize and map he rhythm, then melody and accompaniements, everything will be much better. The guitar and physical work is already there, so you have done a good job!

Cheers,
Thraex

Thanks a lot for your replies. I don't really get the chance to play in front of other people and even if I do, I get to tense and mess up the piece. That's why I was a little bit surprised when you said that I look relaxed cause let me tell you something: I'm not relaxed at all
Hey Thraex, you got me there. My music knowledge is way behind my technical abilities and I'm really frustrated because of that. I listen a lot of guitar music and try to steal somehow what those guys do but that's pretty much all I do regarding my interpretation and I know that's not quite enough. What you were saying makes perfect sense. I'll work on it
Thanks

Great playing. Your sound quality is very good, what recording setup are you using? I actually like the Mi Favorita rendering very much. Looks like you have nailed the piece. As for the Recreo it is nice but seems to be lacking something, i dont know what it is, maybe its the timing and rhythm. Well i am no expert and you play many times better than me! By the way what guitar are you using?

You sure know how to make an impact from the start 8)

Hi Mark, thanks for the comments.
As a recording setup I'm using just a pretty cheap digital photocamera that has also a movie option (I think they all have). My guitar is a Antonio Aparicio AA70. I was curios how much better is the AA100. I tried out the AA80 model and it wasn't to much of a diference.
Here's the link to another piece that I uploaded which is one of my favorites.

Serban that was fabulous, i mean it. Very well executed. To think that you only learn for five years, it is really quite an accomplishment. Your movements were very fluid and all the colors and nuances of the music was well brought out. This seems like a piece you know very well. Bravo!! I want more :D

Thanks Mark, appreciate it
You're right, I've been playing Weiss's Fantasia for couple of years and probably the most important thing is that I studied that piece with my teacher. It helps a lot to get advise from somebody that knows what he's doing.

Serban:
I think your execution of both pieces are very beautiful. You have a grace and style proper of a great guitarist. Mi Favorita is my favorite of the two. The Recreo is played in your own style, and I like it. I think your style can use some of the vibrato that Todd uses. Also, couple of extra tones added some filling, but need to be looked carefully. Great execution.

Considering, 5 years spent, you're doing extremely well.

You're playing pieces well within your limits, and that
is awesome. So many people go too far too fast,
and they pay for it with lack of clarity and control.

Not you, you're approaching with plenty of respect.
You're doing exactly what
you should be doing. Keeping things slow, clear,
and controlled. 8)

Keep doing that, listen to your teacher, and you could
certainly be one helluva player. You're getting there quickly too
i might add.

Keep practicing, and best of luck!!
Post more vids!!!

Yesssss~
You look really relaxed and play easily especially the slurs.
How long did you practice this piece?
If you vary the tone color it would be great.
Still, nice work.

Thanks Pepe,
That was a great idea for a thread. I really enjoyed those two pieces. Most of my repertoire is baroque music which I love but this was a lot of fun either. You're right, my interpretations are a little dry but as Todd was saying I try to stay within my limits. I'm sure my teacher wouldn''t agree with my Recreo interpretation, but what does he know?!!
Hey Todd, good to hear from you. I was a little afraid of your comments :)
Nice playing there man. I have your video with "Angela" on my desktop. You sure know how to use that pick. I can't even play a C major scale with a pick.
Ally I don't really know how long I practiced that piece (if you're talking about Weiss's Fantasia). I did play it probably more than a thousand times
