Hey everyone,
I'm new to this forum and pretty much new to classical guitar, I just started my lessons last September. So far I've learned Villa-Lobos' Choros #1, and right now I'm working on Mazurka choro. I love Villa-Lobos!
I hope to learn tons from all you experienced guitarists out there.

Welcome Ocean. You're doing very well if you're new to guitar and you're already playng Choros #1. I too am a Villa-Lobos fan.

Welcome Ocean. I'm new too. So you like HVL? That's cool, but....
Where do you stand on the Ana Vidovic crisis??? Guitar Goddess or just another Deaf Croatian Harlot?
Quick! 30 words or less; define Musicianship. GO!
Oh, nevermind...you'll see....

Thanks for the welcomes everyone!
Folio,
Sorry, but I can't answer your questions yet... They are reminescent of my "music litterature" exams from my violin years, though...
I have to be honest, I haven't studied music extensively, I'm actually a neuroscience geek, but I recently took a liking to classical guitar, and I'm hoping to learn fast.
Have a good weekend everyone!

:)
that was funny Folio!
And welcome Ocean! this forum is really nice, sometimes heated discussions arise, but the norm is that people are polite and focused pretty much on our instrument.
From september and Choros and Mazurka choro? that is really fast!!

Welcome O,
Who 's this Villa-Lobos guy? You say he wrote choral music? What do you sing? Tenor? Alto??
No matter. Glad to have you aboard.

Welcome-
I too am a "house of wolves" fan. Working on Mazurka Choro myself.
HVL is a true master composer - his work never seems to grow old or tiresome.
So, enough about HVL already, what I want to know is, just where do you stand on the Ana V controversy? Well, it's not really a controversy. Those that say they dislike her are clearly saying so only to play devil's advocates.

To be fair, I don't think I've heard enough from her to have a clear opinion. She sounds really good to my untrained ear, but I wouldn't say she's my favorite guitarist. And please don't ask me who my favorite guitarist is, because I'm just starting to get to know some of them.
So, why don't I take this opportunity to poll you guys (and girls) about your own favorite classical guitarist?
Looking foward to discovering new ones.

Welcome, O.
I'm not sure if I can consider myself an HVL fan, but I do like Mazurka Choro. There are a few members that have uploaded videos that might provide a little inspiration.
