Hi all,

I'm new here, and my name is Joe, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 90 miles north of Chicago for those who don't know where that is. I've played guitar on and off for 35 years. I've owned electrics, cheap classicals and steel string acoustics of varying qualities. 5 years ago I decided to get a quality steel-string acoustic guitar, so I bought a nice used Martin D28. That purchase inspired me to play more guitar in the last 5 years than I had in the previous 30. (Thank you Martin for making such sublime instruments.)

A little while ago I got the bug to get a decent quality classical guitar, so I ended up at the Guitar Salon International Website and Forum. I was willing to spend between $1500 and $2000. I considered a number of instruments for a time, but decided on an Aparicio AA100 cd/in mainly based on Pepe Vergera's recommendation.

Well, I've had it a week, and I must say I think I'm going to fall in love with this guitar. Thanks Pepe, and thanks GSI for setting up this great online store and community. I purchased this guitar on faith, and I wasn't disappointed. Thank you.

I look forward to being part of this community.

Joe

Thanks guys for the welcome. Also it's nice to see there's another Cheesehead around these parts. So, Faya, are your located between Milwaukee and Madison?

Welcome Joe. A D28 is at the top of my wishlist these days, nice to hear another recommendation! I know what you mean about decent guitars, I aquired my first really fine classical guitar a couple years back, and haven't stopped playing it since -- at the expense of my acoutsics and electrics!

It's all good, ain't it?. Welcome aboard. Let us hear some of your stuff (personally, I don't care if it's classical or not, I'm just interested in hearing what you do).

Hi Guitar Slim,

I love my D28. I've wanted to own one since the middle 70's, but figured I couldn't afford one back then. In the late 70's I actually bought a Martin guitar kit from the Martin Company and actually thought I could build a Martin D28 in an efficiency apartment, without workbench, etc. I was wrong, and soon gave up. I gave the whole kit and kaboodle to my sister's boyfriend, who's a lot more mechanically inclined guy. I'm a software guy, not a hardware guy, which I've learned from painful experience.

Nonetheless, Martin makes some nice stuff.

I'd love to let you hear some of my stuff, but I'm currently accessing the internet with a 1998 compaq computer with a broken sound card via a dialup connection. I do at times record myself with a 1981 Fostex 250 portable 4 track recording studio, but of course, I have no way right now of turning those recordings into an mp3.

Also, I'm not so sure you'd want to hear my stuff anyway. Maybe in time. I'm not going anywhere, I hope.

Thanks for the welcome. And yes Martin makes nice guitars.

Joe
