Recently I recorded my practice of Tarrega's study.

The music sheet said that this piece is Sobre un Scherzo de Tomás Damas (1835-1890). Does anyone know the background of this theme by Tomás Damas?

My teacher assigned that piece to me and I've been working on it myself. There's something wrong with that link, though, at least on my end. It was skipping around like a scratched up old vinyl record (I guess that only makes sense depending on your age). But I was able to identify the piece and that's the same one that I'm working on. Nice.

Do you mean the sound quality or my practice? My practice is probably not that good - I just warmed up my fingers and some notes are too weak and not balanced...more detailed comments are always welcome...
If you are talking about the recording quality .... yes it is bad - I just happended to decide record it in practise - I could not get rid of the bkgrd noise...

Do you mean the sound quality or my practice? No, no, no, I meant the sound quality. But I accessed the link from my teacher's computer today, since I wanted him to check it out, and it was fine. On his computer, it automatically opened up in Windows Media Player and it was fine. I think on mine, it tried to open up in Real Player (if I remember correctly) and it was skipping really bad.
He didn't know the answer to the question in your post, by the way. And he was a little surprised that you were learning the piece since he hasn't seen very many people playing it.

That's OK even though you gave some suggestion on my playing...I am trying to improve my skills in my very limited spare time...
The recording quality is bad because of the bkgrd noise. I tried to sample and decrease the noise, but I found the whole sound became much "thinner" after doing that so I gave up that option.
Anyway, I have the copy of Tarrega's 12 etudes. I can learn from their titles that lots of works were actually transcripted, instead of composed, by Tarrega. So I am interested in figuring out what are those original works.
There are also a Beethoven one and Mendelssohn one (You can get from on my homepage) in those studies, but I could not find their background either.
