Anybody know where I can get the music/tab for this guitar solo piece? It was played twice in the film. I did a search here and nothing came up.
It's an interesting piece and I'm sure would be a crowd pleaser... people would notice it. Thanks!

The title of the piece is Crepuscolo Sul Mare (Twilight On The Sea) by Piero Umiliani but I'm sure you got that far already. One of my students wanted me to find the score for this several months ago but I never got around to it. I Googled it just now and the only thing I could find was the Guitar Pro TAB. I wasn't able to view it, though, since my trial period for Guitar Pro has expired and I don't feel like paying the fifty bucks or whatever it is. But I just sent you the Guitar Pro TAB as an attached file via email. If you haven't used your trial version yet, maybe you'll be able to open it but it's also possible that the file may have my account information imbedded which may mean you'd have to start over and search for it again. The other thing you could do is find the MIDI version of the piece and I could plug it into Finale and get the score that way but I was unable to find the MIDI file either.

Thanks for sending me that.
It doesn't matter tho... For over a year when I went to open a PDF file via Acrobat 5.0 a window popped up to ask if I'd like to download the updated version. After getting sick of the pop up window I decided to download 7.0 version. Naturally I deleted 5.0 and now I can't view my old PDF files of which I have over 100. I tried to find somewhere to get 5.0 but can't find it yet.
This is where I wish Adobe had an office in Orlando so I could walk in there and get right up in someones face. New programs are supposed to be the old one plus improvements. WTF are these people thinking?

I guess what I sent you, though, is in Guitar Pro's own 'gp4' format. But apparently, clicking on the file itself won't do the trick, anyway. I was thinking how it might work is that you might have go to Guitar Pro's web site to download their software (at least the trail version) and that would allow you to open the file. If you're saying that it has something to do with Adobe, though, I don't know. That might be. But since you have the title and the composer, I'd call Music Shack and see if they have it or whether or not they can order it.

Yeah, I thought it was supposed to be backward compatible.
Anyway, you can find it here.

I'm of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" persuasion. I don't upgrade anything unless I have to. Well, except for antivirus stuff. :)

Thank you, Sandra! I sent Adobe an email explaining the problem and they sent me a link of where to buy it. Great customer service...
It didn't help now that I've downloaded it but at least I can view my old files. I'll go to Guitar Pro TAB and see what I can do.

I thought music was supposed to be free. Pfft!!
Is that supposed to be a joke? Because artists, composers, arrangers and the like all have to earn a living and pay the bills.
The whole sense of "entitlement" like you're supposed to be able to get anything you want for free over the net is counterproductive to supporting the musical community.

That goes for cd's that artists perform or compose. It shouldn't extend to tabs or sheet music.

The bass may need to be brought up an octave in some places in order for the hand to reach and a key change may even be in order.
Todd, why did you have to go and get me started on another piece? I was going to leave my classical guitar repertoire alone for a while to make room for flamenco! :) :)

Sounds like brain surgery to me!
Lucky7's...while you're working whatever magic goes into that octave this and key change that; could you TAB it too??? Oh yeah, I'll need fingerings while you're at it...

I can't take on another hard one right now, no way. I'm gonna have to pass on this one. My "hats off" to anyone who learns to play this one well. It'll be quite the accomplishment, indeed! :)
EDIT: I'm gonna back-pedal on that just a little bit. Once I re-thought the right-hand fingering, it really isn't as bad as I thought. The piece is infectious and is certainly a crowd pleaser, so I think I'm gonna keep at it. And I think it'll function just fine as a solo guitar piece in absence of the bass line. Adding the bass line wouldn't be feasible.

So you don't think writers should be compensated for their work??? And publishers should just give away sheet music?

I think I'm gonna put Toccata and Fugue on hold while I learn this one.
Thanks Brian! Now we can pass it around for free!

Sandra,
Just to let you know where I'm coming from on the copyright issue . . .
I'm definitely not in favor of artists' copyright being violated. I have several solo guitar arrangements (derivative works) registered through the copyright office, myself; all of which I'm determined to keep from being violated. Some of these were done with permission, while others were derived from works which were already in public domain. I teach music for a living and even though copyright law offers quite a bit of leeway for teachers, I'm still very careful, and meet with my copyright attorney often.
