Some "repulsive" music by Leo Brouwer: Berceuse (Cancion de Cuna), from his Dos Temas Populares Cubanos. Oh wait, that's not one of his repulsive works -- it's one of his "inferior" folkloric works  (Just tweakin' ya, Rowdy).

This was kind of a quickie. I still haven't received the new mic, 2-1/2 weeks after I ordered it, so it's still in mono. But I've reconfigured my studio recently, bought a new preamp, and recorded takes of several short pieces over the last few nights. I want to make this a habit, doing at least one take of something at the end of each practice session.

This is one of the better takes from these recent sessions, and it's a piece I haven't posted before. Not perfect, of course, there's one very noticable clam (among other flaws), and if you listen closely you can hear the fan on my PC in the background! Got to do something about that.

Anyway, you've heard all the excuses before. Thanks for listening.

Reminds me of a coffee commercial. :D

Nice playing. :)

That was very very nice! :) Real nice job on both recording
and playing.

I dont hear the background noise, but there are a couple easy,
cheap ways to fix that if its really bothering you.

Harddrive sleeves, and silent fans. They're way cheap.

They make heatsinks with no fans for processors now.
Wich is great, cause the proccessor fan is usually the loudest
thing in the computer.

If you're adventurous, you can transfer your motherboard and
drives to a liquid cooled case. They're super cheap now too.
Sleeve the drives up in a liquid cooled case, and you're talkin
pindrop silence. 8)

Well done, for that inferior piece of Brouwer output :) I listened with pleasure, truly.

Bravo Slim!

I had just enough time to yak on my keyboard before succumbing to an epileptic seizure.

Molto Bello!

So repulsive that I've added it to my soundclick library as a constant reminder.

Well played :) Thoroughly enjoyed listening! Another option is cooling your PC with mineral oil :D no noise at all! 100% silent in fact. Definitely let me know if you try it ;)

Funny you should say that. Why waste time with a sealed case? Just get an old deep frier, fill it with oil and immerse the whole computer!

Not to beat a dead horse, but I just listened to this a few more times, and I am really disgusted.

What is your recording setup?

Slim:
Should I start the talks with the Long Beach Classical Guitar Society about the next concert? I think you can play this kind of repulsive music. :D

What are you, a glutton for punishment? If so, tema numero dos, "Ojos Brujos" is coming soon

Briefly, I have an AKG C1000S microphone and a Tube MP preamp. I record to the PC with Sonar Home Studio software. I use no compression and virtually no EQ. Some light stereo reverb, just the one that's included in the Sonar package...

Hey Pepe, welcome back! Thanks for the compliment...but shouldn't you be working on an article about your Spain trip? I can't wait to hear about it.

Yes. I am writing about it. Hopefully several articles. In the meantime, I should mention I met Lopez Bellido of Granada, and I learned one thing or two from him. He is a great craftman. His guitars sounded super great. I just saw one for sale on ebay. If I could, I would buy it. The price is right.
