Here is a poser for the vegeterian guitar players,do you make sure your guitar is not built with animal glue.Or is that something you did not think about until now.

Vegetarian guitar players are not any good.
The lack of proteins in their diet prevents neurons from being able to transmit electrical impulses to their finger muscles correctly and this lack of proteins always results their fingers being small and unbelievably weak.

I know this is getting a bit technical but what about French Polish. It is an organic material coming out of an insects bottom is that ok.I mean the animal is not killed and you are not eating the product.

faya--happy birthday. how goes it with your little one? do you still have the mobile?
one thing about luthiery that could be problematic if luthiers get their glue and bones from a foreign country is: MAD COW DISEASE. since the disease is caused by a prion and not a bacterium or virus is that it is difficult to eliminate through conventional mechanisms. so, if a luthier you know begins to act like denny crane, blame it on MAD COW DISEASE.

well there you go the word kosher :!: has jogged my memory, I mean it is not just vegeterians who have to avoid hide glue. Hindus cant use anything with cow in it,Muslims and Jews cant use Piggy stuff.I mean this is turning out to be a can of worms for guitar builders.
I suggest Luthiers stick to fish glue unless you want to run the risk of a Fatwa declared against you  .

Carbon could be good, i did play a steel string once and it wasnt bad at all and have a soild boby graphite that was better then wood. MHO

Nobody wants mad cow disease, man! Or mercury building up in your brain from eating to much fish! Combining the right veggies and grains will supply all the protiens and aminos you could ever use.

Thanks for the link.Composite Carbon Fibre gets my vote.Sounds as good as wood if not better and it is almost indestructable.

Composite Acoustics in the US makes steel string instruments. I keep expecting Boaz Elkayam to make a carbon fiber classical.
*reading The Secret Life Of Lobsters ...but eyeing a little langusto in the window tank at Lobster Bob's* EVEN GRASS WANTS TO LIVE, MAN!!
IMO man was not meant to eat just vegetables and guitars were not meant to be made of plastic.

I do not think you can use that argument MWA.I mean we are not meant to fly but we can fly better then birds now. Thanks to the passenger plane.
Is carbon Plastic :?: .

I think i'm gonna continue to eat animal made sammiches and tree made guitars, I will continue to recycle though! promise.
Spanishyturk,
No, carbon is not plastic but the material is actually carbon fibre reinforced plastic polymer, like fiberglass is really fiberglass reinforced plastic.
We can't fly better than birds, our machines can. Actually, even our planes can't fly better than birds if you think about it (any more than our submarines can swim better than fish).

Actually, even our planes can't fly better than birds if you think about it (any more than our submarines can swim better than fish).
I'm thinking about it.
I'm thinking you probably have some rationale, but can birds fly at mach 5 or at suborbital altitudes, or airlift a quarter million pounds? Can fish circumnavigate the earth or swim under the icecaps? I'm all for the birds and the fish, but I don't see the truth in your statement.
Libre,
I imagine that fish do swim under the ice cap (if they want to) and have you ever seen one sink? Also, some fish do migrate quite long distances and don't have to come up for air.
As far as birds, maybe they are not as fast as a plane but they maneuver quite well and don't crash (they do sometimes try to fly through closed windows but only because they are confused by the reflection of sky). Also I haven't done the math to compare but it is possible that pound for pound a bird can lift quite a large weight (if so inclined). Have you ever seen a wing fall off a bird in flight?
But my main point is that they are able to fly/swim without aid of a machine.

No contest, man is supreme better then nature. No bird can land on The Moon.
I reckon soon it will be a Capital offence to cut down trees we need them for our oxygen.
If you want to know how much a bird can lift have a look at Monty Python and The holy Grail  .

I once shot and ate a vegetarian - all bones and very little taste - still if you're starving it will keep you alive at least until your next decent fillet steak. Pass the bernaise....

ok lets get back to the serious guitar related questions.
Will the global warming situation affect the way our guitars sound. Is the air going to get more wet and increase the moisture content of the wood and make our guitars sound duller.
And with every Country trying desperately to cut down on green house gasses , are they going to make Veggies illegal because they emit an awful
amount of methane gas.
