If someone brings his/her guitar to a pawn shop for money and does not come up with money in due time to retrieve his guitar back then the pawn shop has the right to sell the guitar as I understand it. How are they considered bottom dwellers for providing that service? I love pawn shops because you can find great deals there. If you have an expensive guitar you should buy theft insurance for it. The pawn shop is trying to run a business plain and simple. They get hot items in everyday and they know it.
That is how they operate. Buy cheap, sell higher. Isn't that what most music shops do too? I think so.
yes...........but the problem with some pawn shops, is that they really could care less where or how the "Stuff" was got in the first place.
but there again................that should be taken into consideration before you let them have it.
you see the problem here isn't that they are bottom feeders, i have no problem with a bottom feeder what so ever, because i know what they are all about to begin with................besides i like deep fried BullHeads!!...........Yummy!! :lol:
why i call them bottom feeders is not becuase of what they do, but simply b the fact that like a BullHead they really could care less about what goes in there mouth and what they can get for it.
a music store on the other hand, should,(note the word "should"), be a little more concerned about the history of an instrument before it is bought or sold...............besides it's a "MUSIC" store and some dude who just ripped off little ol' Timmy's wifes belongings can't just walk in there and sell it............ :wink:
it's a thing called "Business Ethics".............that really seperates the 2 from one another.

ok first of all Faya you have the wrong idea of what pawn shops do and how they work obviously. Every single item that comes into a pawn shop goes thry what is called "pawn detail". These records are sent to the police dept every single day. WHen an items comes into a pawn shop it must have a serial number on it. No serial number no loan. plain and simple there. If the item does come back stolen the the "pawn detail" when provide all the info on the item and person who pawned it to the police dept. At that time the police will retrieve the item and the pawn shop will loose out on a large portion of what they spend on the item. Pawn shop insurance covers about 15% of what we pay for the item. SInce we are never compensated fully for the item we have tried to iliminate all stolen items coming into the store. Pawn shops are not what everyone thinks they are. Sure a lot of ppl think that they take stolen stuff to run business but it is not true and the hole pawn shop image has changed dramastically over the past 2 years.
We are not here to buy items. We are here to help ppl out if they are in a financial burden. For the most part we don't want the person to loose the item to us in pawn because we then have to sell the item and that takes money. Not by just paying the sales rep but by advertising and everything that is needed to just get that person to walk thru the doors into the store.
So for those that think pawn shops are just here to take stolen merchandise they are complete wrong and need to realize that isn't what we are here to do.
I know that I am a new member that just registered to call out this person ruining my business but I am the one selling the guitars online and I work in a Pawn shop and have done so for the last two years.

I know that there are the few shops that do take stolen goods but not here in AZ. They will be closed down with the quickness. If you get 3 violations then your pawnbrokers license is revoked.
well.............if you take a good look at my statement you will notice the word "Some" not "ALL".

ya anyone can bring in an item but if they took it from you then you should make a police report and then you can get the item back without a hassle.

well there is a little gray area but you have to remember anything that is reported stolen is taken by the police and thats why pawn detail has a time frame where we can't even touch the item. Sure it may take someone a couple weeks to realize that something may be stolen from them and thats why we have to wait before we can touch any item so that person has the time to make a police report.

I saw the Ebay auction and sort of recognized the guitar. Out of curiosity, I forwarded the webpage to Jubi asking if that was the same one.
He never replied to my email and I thought nothing of it, only to find Jubi's first post about it here.:shock:
For the record, I didn't even know he lost his guitars and I certainly didn't expect things to turn out the way they did. :?

I'm not sure, but I think it's because some people think you're Jewish? And shellfish is considered traif and inedible by Jewish dietary law.
Of course, many Jewish people don't keep kosher and some Catholics use condoms or other forms of birth control not sanctioned by their church.
Me, I'm just allergic to shellfish so I can't eat it at all. :(

Pawn shops are the Kmart of poor people. That is where I got my wife a nice jewlery!!

Well, it's true that I'm Jewish. And I gorge on lobster, clams and oysters, shrimp, even pork. So that's what I think of Jewish dietary law.
And I even eat non-kosher hot dogs sometimes, in front of the museum where I play on Saturday, adding not keeping the Sabbath Holy to the list of commandments I've broken. Never killed anybody though (yet).
