Alright guys, the new forum is loaded!
To the best of my knowledge, every bug and complaint has been addressed with this new software. I'm VERY excited about this, this seems like the most thorough and solid forum software I can imagine.
Now, there may still be a kink here or there, but nothing like last time. (For example, I know the "Recent Discussions" box on the front page will need to be fixed.)
As far as the downside, the only one I can think of is that we've lost the last two weeks of posts on the temp forum. but...they were mostly complaints anyway! LOL!
Please enjoy the new forum and features...we'll be expanding it even further in the time to come.
Like last time, please let me know if you encounter anything unusual.
Cheers everyone!
Dave

Thanks! I'm so happy about this forum! You wouldn't believe how bummed out I've been for the past two weeks, trying to get our community rolling smoothly again! LOL
Dave
PS - I had to manually turn on my smilies and advanced text editor, in the "Edit Options" of my control panel ("User CP" up top). Just FYI, in case that applies to you guys as well. I know you love your smilies...

Yeah this looks really good. It matches the main site, but has all the features of the old GSI forum we were all used to. The only question I have (I posted it in another thread) is, can I put up a different public name attached to my posts than the one I use for logging in? That was one feature I was happy about with the old forum. Not a big deal, but if that's possible, it would be cool. Thanks to GSI for getting these forum issues figured out!

herbie hanCOCK is great
my teacher next year is DICK provost
I love the Bach Violin ParTITas and Ponce's PeTITe Valse is also great.
let's really put this forum to the test here. I hope it's not as WHOREible as the last one was.
EDIT: Yay! no silly censors. The adults of this forum can now choose to write "clASSical guitar" at their own discretion.

Avatars are still possible, but they may not have been carried over. You may need to re-upload them.

Guys/gals, this is the latest version of vBulletin, considered to be state-of-the-art as far as forum software goes. We need to give Dave some time to get it tweaked, but it is very capable and feature rich. :)
Um, Dave, I can't log in as Sandra and I sent you a PM here but I can't find any record of me having a PM box.
Well, we'll get there soon when the kinks are worked out. ;)

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alright, quite funny, but don't push it James. I'm trying to keep the censorship to a minimum, and posts like that won't help my cause!

Thanks Sandra, I appreciate the support. I hope the logging in situation is fixed...
It is a 2 hour old forum, so there may indeed be some birthing pains. If you guys were able to deal with the last forum, you most certainly will be ok this time!

Not fixed yet. :(
I also don't see how to upload an avatar now. I get this:
Edit Avatar
Your Current Avatar
No Avatar Specified Avatars are small graphics that are displayed under your username whenever you post.
Do not use an avatar
Note: if you have a custom avatar selecting this option will delete it.

I get the same avatar message--hence my previous post! Also, I guess we can no longer change our user names?

I'm baaack! It finally let me reset a password with my original nick.
Also, I guess we can no longer change our user names?
vBulletin doesn't allow you to change your own nicks as far as I know. But if you ask nice, Dave Tate might do it for you. :)
Dave!!! I like this format A TON better!!!!!! Nice job!!!
Feels like home again.......

Thanks Todd! I'm quite impressed with it myself.
I think I figured out the logging in situation last night, so hopefully that won't be an issue anymore.
Let me look into the avatars...I was able to upload mine with no problem.
Anyone who wants their name changed, please email me.
Enjoy guys,
Dave

I love the birthday option! what a cool touch. I hope you guys enter your b-days (yes, you can leave out the year ;)). They'll show up in the calendar, as well as at the bottom of the index when it's someone's b-day.

I've noticed that some people here were clever enough to get their avatars back up again but so far I've been unable to. Thoughts, feelings, comments? :)

Up top there's a button called "User CP"...that's your control panel. Explore around there and you'll find it. ;)

It looks great this new version of our Forum!
Glad that the problems are over.
For me there is one problem left :

refuses to display it on the forum.

Well it seems that only when you preview your post, the avatar
does not show up!! Problem solved!
