Tapkalica means "a little tap-dance" in Bosnian. Traditionally this type of piece would be performed by a group of dancers with taps on their shoes and be accompanied by a modernized orchestra consisting of accordion, guitars, bass, and drums. The flute is actually mimicking a Frula, which is a wind instrument with a very limited range, therefor the player is invited to ornament where they see fit. Since this piece is a dance, it can be very exciting to perform for not only the audience, but for the performers as well.
