U.S. Classic Guitar Presents David Russell Concert And Masterclasses in Los Angeles, Portland & Hawaii.

U.S. Classic Guitar is proud to present Grammy Award winner David Russell, in concert in Los Angeles at the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles on Friday, March 18 at 7 PM, in Portland at the Garages at 4 PM, and on the Big Island of Hawaii at the Cliffs of BellaVista at 4 PM. This performance is part of the acclaimed U.S. International Guitar Series Season 2022 and will also include two master classes the first being in Los Angeles Saturday, March 19 at Guitar Salon International at 10 AM and the second being at the Garages in Portland on Monday, March 21 at 11:30 AM. The LA concert will also be streamed live for a pay-per-view audience on Friday, March 18 at 7 PM Pacific Time and the LA master class will be available on Zoom for a pay-per-view audience live from the Guitar Salon International on March 19 at 10 AM.

The sterling reputation of David Russell has been continually confirmed by repeated appearances in virtually every major concert venue across the globe including those of London, Tokyo, Madrid, Toronto, Rome, New York, Boston, Cleveland, Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Portland and many more and now he will be making is Hawaii debut. Concert-goers everywhere are in awe of his musical genius and inspired by his captivating stage presence. His love of his craft resonates through his flawless and seemingly effortless performance. The attention to detail and provocative lyrical phrasing suggest an innate understanding of what each individual composer was working to achieve, bringing to each piece a sense of adventure.

In 2018, Mr. Russell was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Guitar Foundation of America, he received an Honorary Doctorate in Music by the University of Arizona in Tucson in 2014, and in 2004 he won a Grammy Award for his CD called Aire Latino in the category of best instrumental soloist in classical music. In May 2005 he received a homage from the music conservatory of Vigo, Spain culminating with the opening of the new Auditorium, to which they gave the name "Auditorio David Russell".In 2009, David was named honorary member of "Amigos de la Guitarra", the oldest guitar society in Spain.

Mr. Russell is a prolific recording artist, and his discography includes seventeen CDs with Telarc International. The New York Times wrote about his performance: "... Mr. Russell made his mastery evident without ever deviating from an approach that places musical values above mere display. It was apparent to the audience throughout the recital that Mr. Russell possesses a talent of extraordinary dimension". Upon hearing him play in London, Andrés Segovia wrote: "My congratulations on your musicality and guitaristic technique"...

During his studies at the Royal Academy, David Russell won twice the Julian Bream Guitar Prize. Later he won numerous international competitions, including the Andrés Segovia Competition , the José Ramírez Competition and Spain's prestigious Francisco Tárrega Competition.
