If I had only heard the soundtrack I would never have supposed this guitar had a cedar soundboard. It just goes to show how a great luthier is not so subservient to his materials as people commonly suppose. The first top-notch guitar I ever got to play was a Friedrich and I knew from the first note that I had something magical in my hands. Maybe I’m just being sentimental, but I fancy I can hear in this wonderful instrument, wonderfully played, an echo of that enchanted moment from my youth long ago.
